Equestrian calmers can be very useful for horses that are highly strung and suffer with stress and anxiety. Feeding/giving a calmer can reduce acute stress and anxiety – in turn this can lower the risk of stress related illnesses such as gastric ulcers and weight loss.

As most horse owners will know, horses can become stressed at the drop of a hat. They can be triggered by the slightest thing, such as a change in routine, diet, transport or stable condition – this is why you should always aim to keep your horse in a regular routine. Sometimes you may need the help of a calmer to help create a happier horse that is easier to handle.

We have listed our bestselling calmers, in all forms, with a brief description of each to help you decide which is most suitable.

Instant Calmers

Instant calmers are fast acting and are ideal for competitions, farrier visits or in the event you need to administer some stress relief quick. Like most calmers, instant calmers will most likely contain magnesium, tryptophan and valerian, which are all known to have anti-anxiety properties. Instant calmers will usually come in a paste form that is administered with a syringe for maximum effect.
